Seriously?! Another Godzilla preview with that ISN'T being released to the public from Comic Con?! Are you serious guys?! Who's fucking in charge here?! I want to strangle whoever's in charge of this because this is utter bull. Gareth Edwards said that we would be getting something BIG this weekend and... what the hell, nothing? No, I'm not talking about strangling Gareth but I'm referring to whoever is in charge of production here because Gareth himself even said that he wanted the trailer put online as well. So yeah... Gareth is cool but whoever is in charge is being a complete ass. I've been looking forward to something BIG with Godzilla for YEARS and I mean like...... since the last Godzilla film ever made (Godzilla Final Wars in 2004). You know what, I won't rant any longer but I will say that this guy www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDMfFE… shares my sympathies... and frustrations :iconheavyisnotamusedplz:. Is anyone else kind of pissed off that we're not getting what we were promised (seriously, I feel nearly the same way as I did when I beat Mass Effect 3 right now and believe me, I didn't like that feeling)? I'm sorry for being so vulgar and obnoxious guys but really, I'm so incredibly disappointed that it's not even funny :iconfacepalmplz:.

Nothing says purist Godzilla fanboy more than getting ramped up for more of the same, don't you think?

Purist? Really ? I like Godzilla but I'm not utterly obsessed with the guy . I'm sorry that I was disappointed because Legendary said that something was going to happen but nothing happened at all... I'll remember to congratulate and send them flowers the next time they don't do something that they say they're going to do :iconderpplz:. As for being ramped up for more of the same? That could be true or it might not be. Pacific Rim already proved that statement false so it's possible that the new Godzilla movie might not be more of the same :iconcoolplz:. Now go draw more Meerhulk :dummy:.

Meh, i dunno... the more i read about this movie, the more i'm convinced that they've let themselves be boxed into a corner, not only by toho but by the fanbase itself - especially since a lot of us know these "fans" refuse to accept or allow some degree of change (as evidenced by the continued contemptuous reception of Zilla almost 15 years later).

I'm one who digs the more experimental stuff of the latter day showa era productions (GR, Hedora, the musical numbers on some of the last few) and i can admire the tri-star 'zilla because it tried at least to bring something new to the table. I'd much rather like to see a return to that more weird-ass style instead of seeing a movie that not only is the same toho formula we've had force fed to us since '72 but the same one that generally continues to propagate and enforce this whole conceptual context of Godzilla-as-metaphor-for-American-genocide trope since day one... But that's just my opinion of the whole shebang as of late.

And hell if i could even draw again - been dealing with a crummy art block that's been affecting me since i drew that almost eight years ago so i wouldn't know if i could still draw that type of stuff anymore... I've tried off and on to doodle, but nothing seems to look right to me. :embarrassed:

I understand what you're saying and I agree... to a certain extent. I like Zilla but there's a difference between making "changes" and raping the source material. In the latest Man of Steel film (while not perfect), they managed to make the necessary changes and modernizations that were needed for a recent Superman film but without destroying the source material. The 1998 Godzilla film did the exact opposite of that as there was nothing even remotely close to the source material outside of Zilla's sort of similar appearance to Godzilla. I want to see a Godzilla movie done with the source material intact but with the necessary changes it needs... not a complete raping of what and who the character is :iconlooolplz:. Again, I like Zilla but the creature is certainly no Godzilla and I don't want to see the same attempt repeated .

While I have my doubts about the new film, I was still kind of hyped about seeing a new trailer or some new screenshots of Godzilla because it's been a long while since I've seen a new Godzilla movie and especially with today's technology, I'm very interested in seeing how the King of Monsters can be pulled off this time around :). I'm just so disappointed that Legendary got us psyched because something big was supposed to happen............ and then nothing happens :iconwtwplz:.

I dunno - what you would consider to be intellectual rape probably could have been for the better in the long run: if that attempt was allowed to succeed, maybe Ameri-G would've paved the way for a spinoff of the franchise that could've had a distinct contextual voice away from it's japanese counterpart that would've allowed things some degree of leeway to be experimental and inventive again, but i guess we'll never know...

I guess i'm really just burned out by all these self-righteous wastes of cumshot who not only call themselves true blue "fans" and also like to make believe that they know what's best for the franchise not only wanting their giant heaping scoop of vanilla and wanting it right now. And heaven forbid that the final product doesn't measure up to their fucked-up standard of perfection or else they won't buy into it.

It's often said that the customer is always dead right, but lately i just wish the customer was dead.

Well, Americ-G would've been a nice spin-off.... if the movie or creature wasn't called "Godzilla" in the first place :iconlooolplz:. What I "consider" as intellectual rape? For the most part, they DID rape the character because there is nothing similar at all to its source material and to add insult to injury, the movie was called Godzilla and what we got wasn't Godzilla. That's why it's for the most part, considered a raping of the character. If the movie wouldn't have been called Godzilla, then it would've been accepted by the current angry mob of fans .

Oh, God forbid that people have a passion for big G, recognize him as character, and like him for who he is and get defensive when they see their character scrutinized... yeah, screw them right :dummy:? Did you even listen to what I said :iconlooolplz:? People are pissed about the lack of Godzilla at the moment because Legendary said that something BIG would happen over the weekend and they weren't specific about it. Legendary didn't even say that this big thing was exclusive to Comic Con, they just said that something big was going to happen and they announced it to the general public... of course people will get pissed when something is announced to them to get them hyped only to give them a kick to the balls by not showing them what you said you were going to show them :iconderpplz:. Fucked up standard of perfection? What :iconwthplz:? How is wanting a Godzilla movie that stays faithful to the character a "fucked up" standard? That's how one's standards SHOULD be. Okay, let's not stay faithful, let's make Godzilla smaller, die from missiles, get pregnant and give birth to an army of Velociraptors, not breath radioactive fire, and make him (oh, I mean't she since she can give birth now:D) rely on speed and cowardness to defeat the military... yeah, this is totally how everyone's standards should be for the new film :iconheavywutplz:.

Congratulations, you want the customer dead. Yeah, fuck feedback, let's just have companies like Microsoft make consoles that are always online that also allow you to not share the game with your friends that you bought with your hard earned money..... everything is perfect without those pesky customers :iconlaplz:.

Yeah, kinda like what Toho is continuing to do now.

This discourse kinda started off all right and it felt at first like you were also somebody who was maybe sick of the formula, fed up with being hustled and looking for a new deal as well; but it's now beginning to look like i'm being trolled again and forced to conform to the fascist hive mind that 99% of this so-called fandom holds dear to it's heart since anything that's different obviously robs them of their fascist sense of security.

At the end of the day when the dust settles and all is said and done, it's just going to show that the opinions and concerns a handful of us have regarding the artistic and creative advancement of the property and will never be acknowledged or honored because people like you only want more vanilla and want it right now.

Thanks for playing though...

Toho? What are they doing... oh wait, they haven't done anything with Godzilla in over 10 years so how exactly is that "raping" the character :iconhmmplz:?

Forced? I didn't force you to do anything and I'm not trolling you... I'm just using some sarcastic humor because I thought some of your comments were completely absurd . Plus, I never said that I was sick of the Godzilla formula or being hustled into what most fans dislike (Zilla) so... not sure where you read that at :iconlooolplz:. I said I'm open and welcome to change as long as the source material or character isn't destroyed . Like I said again and again, Godzilla (1998) was an okay monster movie but it was a terrible Godzilla movie because the character himself (and anything recognizable about the monster or his previous films) is completely absent and the name "Godzilla" was slapped on the front cover of the film for market value like.. well, false advertisement :dummy:. Get it? Good monster movie on its own... but it's a terrible Godzilla movie. Like I also said again, Man of Steel was a great example of rebooting or "changing" the character without destroying the source material or the character himself because nearly everything we remember about Superman and loved about him is there but the film makers tweaked certain aspects and added more to the character and the film which works because while the source material is there, we get something new still. That's exactly what most of the Godzilla fan base and I are asking for, we want a Godzilla movie with the character that we recognize and grew up with but we want new aspects and ideas to be introduced. We don't want another attempt like the 1998 Godzilla movie that's called Godzilla but in reality, has nothing to do with the monster the movie is named for :iconderpplz:.

Your problem is that you assume that nearly all of the fanbase hates Godzilla 1998 for stupid reasons. While the "fan base hating Godzilla 1998 part" may be arguably true, people don't just hate the film because it's popular to hate on the movie and trust me, I know. I used to love the film but then conformed to hating it after I found out that it had nothing to do with Godzilla in any way but now, I realize that the film is actually just okay. It isn't anything special but it's still awesome to see Zilla wreak havoc in New York and Zilla itself is still an interesting monster. In the end, the fans DON'T hate the American Godzilla film because they have stupid reasons but they hate it because a Godzilla movie was made... but without Godzilla in it at all and that my friend is no stupid reason :iconheavywutplz:. While I don't hate it like everyone else, I find it completely understandable as to why people hate it and (I'm really sorry here if I offend you) if you can't see that... then you're kind of ignorant :iconheavyisastonished:
